Charters will be required to transport students An approved certified school bus transporter contract will be submitted for bid Charters are exempted from all statutes in chapter 1000-1013, except for those pertaining to: Student Health Safety Welfare

Buses must be inspected at a minimum every 30 school days 6A-3.0.171. A maintenance file must be maintained for each bus for the life of the vehicle. Drivers must successfully complete 40 hours of preservice training per DOE Basic School Bus Operator Curriculum 6A-3.0141 (4b) Eight hours of in-service training is required annually Participate in the federally required drug and alcohol program Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with Passenger & School Bus endorsements. Maintain a D.O.T. Physical. PBSD will provide training two times a year for Charters

Training will be provided prior to the surveys Assistance will be provided throughout the process Students must meet the basic transportation requirements in order to get credit and funding for bus transport Students transported within the two-mile walk zones will not be submitted for reimbursement unless they meet the requirements for hazardous walkers

1006.23 Hazardous walking conditions.— (1) DEFINITION.—As used in this section, “student” means any public elementary school student whose grade level does not exceed grade 6.
