Thomas Jefferson The man, the myth, the President. Presentation by: Matthew Kornish Note: Anything in yellow is what you write as a fact.

FACT ONE. He was in political office for a long time. Governor of Virginia Minister to France Secretary of State (first) That’s 2X as a governor! Vice President (second) President (third) I’m serious, it went that way. About here is where the Constitution happened.

FACT TWO ~He hated slavery. ~Tried to ban it in the Declaration of Independence. ~However, by today’s standards he’d be described as racist.

FACT THREE ~He loved to read. ~He would read literally anything he could. (no pun intended.) ~He eventually sold about 10,000 of his books to the US Library of Congress.

FACT FOUR ~He drafted the Declaration of Independence. ~He snuck in a bombshell: He wanted to ban slavery in it. ~People just edited and edited and edited until it is the document it is today, with much less content and slave banning. (it didn’t pass)

Uh oh….. Howmany books did Thomas Jefferson sell to the U.S Libraryof Congress?

(Insert answer) About 10,000

FACT FIVE (the important one) Note: Anything in yellow is what you write as a fact.
