2. DEFINITION OF PAST TENSE
The simple past tense is used to describe a completed activity that happened in the past. In other words, it started in the past and ended in the past.

3. FUNCTION OF PAST TENSE
The simple past tense is used to talk about finished actions that happened at a specific time in the past. You state when it happened using a time adverb.

4. FORMULA OF PAST TENSE

5. EXAMPLE OF PAST TENSE

6. Regular and irregular verbs
We form the simple past tense of most verbs by adding –ed to the verb. These verbs are called regular verbs. Most verbs are regular verbs. The simple past tense of some verbs does not end in –ed. These verbs are the irregular verbs. The simple past tense irregular verbs can only be used in the positive, not negative. For example: He kept all his money in the bank.
