What does it mean to TRANSFORM?
2
So then what do you think is an... En ergy Transformation = Energy changing from one form to another.
3
Energy Transfer Energy Transfer: Energy transformation is the process of changing energy from one form to another. E nergy can move from one location to another, as in the sun's energy travels through space to Earth. The two ways that energy can be transferred are by doing work and heat transfer.
4
ENERGY CANNOT BE CREATED OR DESTROYED, only changed from one form to another. Important note: New Energy
5
Energy Transformation ENERGY CANNOT BE CREATED OR DESTROYED, ONLY CHANGED FROM ONE FORM TO ANOTHER. Every energy transformation produces some HEAT.
6
Energy Transformation Examples: An engine, such as the engine in a car, converts the chemical energy of gas and oxygen into the mechanical energy of engine movement. 2011 Ford Mustang V6
7
Energy Transformation Windmills harness the energy of the wind and convert it into mechanical energy in the movement of the turbine blades, which is then converted to electrical energy. Solar panels transform light to electricity.
8
Energy Transformation Example 2: A light bulb changes electrical energy into light (heat is also produced).

Pre-Test Review 2
16
Draw a picture of the scenario your group receives. Label each step. You will trade with another group to identify the energy transformations.

1) A person turns on a PlayStation 3 and plays a game on their TV. 2) A woman turns on a hair dryer and dries her hair. 3) A person turns on their iPod and listens to music (not plugged into wall). 4) A person plays a piano. The piano makes music. 5) A person lights a match and then lights a candle. 6) A person eats some pasta and then plays basketball.
