1 Logging into TestNav Provide Student Login Information Student Logs into TestNav Verify Student Name

Provide Student Login Information To log in to TestNav, student’s need the following information: First and Last Name MARSS/SSID Test Code o The test code is automatically generated after a test session is created. Test codes are specific to each test session.

Student Logs into TestNav First and Last Name: This is not case sensitive MARSS/SSID: Enter accurately without leading spaces Test Code: Enter the test code from the Test Session Details (this is not case sensitive) Enter information on the three designated lines Self-Registration TestNav URL: http://selfregister.testnav.comhttp://selfregister.testnav.com

Verify Student Name Students should verify their name appears in the upper right corner of the screen, next to the test name, before answering questions. Students should alert proctor if their name does not appear at the top.

Important Notes Highlighter: will “stick” on Reading passages and in items Notepad: notes will be maintained in items/across passages – Math and Science - maintained in items – Reading - maintained across passages Text-to-Speech: playback rate will be maintained in test if adjusted Zoom: – Zoom percentage is maintained in test if adjusted – In order to answer questions, use the tools, or proceed to the next question, the Drag Screen button will need to be deselected if zoom is used Contrast: – Setting is maintained in test if selected – High Contrast setting may cause some shading to turn white

Review Screens Reading and Science Functional review screen at the end of the section Students can navigate back to flagged questions Math Static review screen, which informs students they can review questions in that section Students must navigate to questions by using the Back button on the navigation bar Students will need to click Next to proceed to the end of the section in order to proceed to the next section

Item Samplers for Minnesota Item samplers are available to familiarize students with item types and the format of the online test. Online item samplers are available on PearsonAccess and through the Training Center. Content is the same across both formats. – Item samplers on PearsonAccess can be accessed via the link on the PearsonAccess home page. – Item samplers through the Training Center are accessed via TestNav. NOT practice tests CANNOT be used to predict how well student will perform on the assessments

Easily accessed via a link in PearsonAccess Accessible by teachers, students, and parents All the tools and functionality of TestNav OverviewItem Samplers PageTraining Center Are Test Monitors required to create a test session and approve students to test? No, test sessions are not created and students do not need to be approved to log into the item sampler. Yes, test sessions must be created and students must be approved in PearsonAccess before students can log into the item sampler. Is student login information required? No, students only enter their names to access the item sampler. Yes, students must have login information (first and last names, MARSS/SSID number, and test session test code) to log in to the item sampler. Are students able to practice navigating and answering test questions? Yes, students can practice navigating in the item sampler and practice answering questions. Are students able to exit and resume the item sampler? No, students will not be able to exit and resume the item sampler where they left off. The student will need to start the item sampler over. Yes, students can exit the item sampler and resume the item sampler where they left off later if needed. They will resume the item sampler on the item last viewed. Are students able to review their score and the correct responses? Yes, students can view their score and the correct responses to the item sampler items upon completion of the item sampler.

Simulate the real testing experience for students and districts. Item samplers are accessed via TestNav – all the tools, accommodations, and security of live testing. District users will need to provide login information to students from PearsonAccess.
