The Test Session The THEA IBT consists of three sections: Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. You may take one, two, or three sections of the test at the test session. The test session for the THEA IBT is four hours in length. Individual test sections are not timed within the test session. You may use the time available to work on any of the three test sections. You may spend as much time as you want on each test section and may work on the sections in any order you choose until the test session ends. Calculators Examinees will have access to an on-screen calculator during the Mathematics Section of the test.

Reading Test Description Reading consists of approximately 40 multiple-choice questions matched to about seven reading selections of 300 to 750 words each. The reading selections represent a variety of subject areas and are similar to reading materials (e.g., textbooks, manuals) that students are likely to encounter during their first year of college. Students will be asked to answer several multiple-choice questions about each reading selection.

Scoring test scores are reported using the same scale, in a range from 100 to 300. The minimum score needed to pass the Reading and Mathematics sections is 230. For the Writing Section, the minimum passing score is 220.

What to bring with you You MUST bring the following with you to the THEA IBT: Bring your confirmation e-mail as proof of payment. Several sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers (no pens or mechanical pencils); pencils will not be supplied at the test center Two pieces of identification, one with a recent photograph Notepaper will be provided for you to use during testing; however, no other notepaper or note-taking devices may be used during the test. An onscreen calculator will be provided for the Math Section of the test; no other calculators are permitted.

What NOT to bring DO NOT bring any unauthorized aids or prohibited materials. If you do bring any of these materials, you will be required to leave them in a designated area. Cell phones (possession or use of) Electronic communication devices, visual or audio recording or listening devices, or any device with an on/off option, including, but not limited to, MP3 players, PDAs, pagers, computers, CDs, removable storage devices, calculator watches, clocks or watches with alarms, spellcheckers, etc.Calculators and calculator manuals Handwritten or printed materials, such as dictionaries, notebooks, scratch paper, textbooks, etc. Hats or headwear, except those being worn for religious or medical purposes Packages and bags of any kind, such as backpacks, briefcases, etc. Food and drink including chewing gum, except water in approved containers, unless prior approval has been obtained from the test center Unauthorized aids, such as slide rules, rulers, translation aids, highlighters, etc. Unauthorized medical devices, such as inhalers, Epinephrine injections, etc., unless prior approval has been obtained from the test center
