In 1997 consumers lost more than 745 million dollars Today it is in the billions Identity theft increased 22% from 2007 to 2008 Affects over 10 million victims 57 million adults have experienced a phishing attack

How do they do it? They will pay for lawyers

Stopping Identity Theft Contd… News and Media Time Magazine The New York Times Both reported about the increases in identity theft and how we could decrease this by taking action. CNN Paula Zahn reported that nearly 10,000 social security cards were stolen from Stanford University computers
