TUTORIAL 2 (Ans: K = 0.67 Pa sn; n = 1.32)

TUTORIAL 3 A certain fluid that conforms to the Herschel-Bulkley model has an yield stress of zero. The fluid experienced a shear stress of 6 Pa when a shear rate of 2 s-1 was imposed on it and a shear stress of 54 Pa when a shear rate of 6 s-1 was imposed on it. What is the apparent viscosity of this fluid at a shear rate of 4 s-1? (ANS: 6 Pa s)

TUTORIAL 4 To determine the viscosity of canola oil, a falling ball viscometer was used. Viscometer has a tube length of 200mm and its ball has a diameter of 0.95 mm. Oil and the ball have densities of 835 kg/m3 and 3278 kg/m3, respectively. If it takes 49.3 s for the ball to fall from the top of the tube, calculate the viscosity of the oil.

TUTORIAL 5 Calculate the sphericity of a cylindrical object of diameter 1.0 cm and height 1.7 cm V = πr 2 h The radius of the sphere (rs ) having this volume can be calculated as:

The surface area of sphere of the same volume as the particle is: S s = 4π r s 2 The surface area of the particle is: S p = 2π r (h + r ) Then, sphericity is calculated as:
