3 U NIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LEARNING (UDL)  Identifies barriers in learning and removes them  Accessible to all students  Uses student’s interests, abilities, learning styles, strengths, readiness, and needs.  Focus is what the students learn now how the teacher wants them to learn it  The more learning options, the better chances the students will learn.  Using tiered assignments  Offers multiple means of media and multiple means of showing what they know.  Representation, Action and Expression, and Engagement are the components of UDL.

7 T ECHNOLOGY AND UDL FOR ALL LEARNERS UDL principles can be designed in any curriculum with or without technology but using technology can help make it easier to customize it for each learner. Positives for using technology for UDL design includes:  Cost effective  Helps scaffold and give immediate feedback to students  Challenges each individual student  Students are engaged in their learning  Supports learning in the classroom  Assistive technology is a need for some students to be successful

8 A SSISTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

9 T ECHNOLOGIES FOR LEARNING S TATION #2 Used to improve, maintain, and improve the capabilities of students that have disabilities. This station will be equipped with computers to do an interactive UDL activity to show how UDL principles are used in the classroom. The computers will be using this at http://marylandlearninglinks.org/3816 http://marylandlearninglinks.org/3816
