Victoria Capital of British Columbia Very beautiful city On Vancouver Island, not to be confused with Vancouver Have to get there by boat from Vancouver (from the mainland)

Edmonton Capital city of Alberta It is very flat, part of the prairies It gets tornadoes; mass whirlwinds that have enough strength to toss a bus hundreds of meters and destroy houses It also has Canada’s biggest shopping mall. In the mall there is an amusement park and a beach with high waves. It’s fun!

Regina Capital of Saskatchewan It is the center of a large agricultural community This community seems to be shrinking.

Winnipeg Capital of Manitoba Very hot in the summertime and very cold in the winter time It seems to always have a mosquito problem Sometimes other Canadian joke and call it Winterpeg

Toronto Capital of Ontario Largest city in Canada Lots to do there CN tower is one of the tallest building in the world Home to evil creatures known as the Toronto Maple Leafs

Quebec City Capital of Quebec Very old city with many historic buildings Very beautiful, especially in autumn. Some famous Canadian battles took place near there Practically everyone speaks only French

Halifax Capital city of Nova Scotia Another very old city Was once a very famous international port. Is still Canada’s largest eastern port Very friendly people, a fun town!

Fredericton Capital of New Brunswick Like Regina, this city seems to be shrinking in population Because it’s inland, it is safe from many of the Atlantic storms

Charlottetown Capital city of Prince Edward Island (PEI) PEI is known for beautiful parks and scenery It’s also famous for it’s Potatoes It is a very quiet and calm community

St. Johns Capital of Newfoundland Located on a peninsula, off a bigger island It gets lots of storms Newfoundland is one of the most beautiful places in all of Canada. But that’s my opinion.

Yellowknife Capital of the North West Territories Very barren and cold Is on Great Slave Lake and the Mackenzie River. It gets so cold in the winter that truck drivers use the river as a highway

Iqaluit Capital city of the Territory of Nunuvat So new, my spellchecker doesn’t recognize it! The smallest capital in Canada It use to be called Frobisher Bay A territory negotiated by the aboriginal people of Canada. (Again, more on that later)

Vancouver Largest city in BC Fastest growing city in Canada Very modern. Very beautiful (as long as you stand back far enough!) Lots and lots of things to do

Calgary The biggest city in Alberta Home to the world famous Calgary Stampede. It’s a really big rodeo This city is growing fast too. Close to the rocky mountains

Niagara Falls A big tourist attraction Very large and beautiful waterfalls Famous in Canadian history during the War of 1812

Canadian Land Regions The western part of Canada has many mountains. These mountains spread all across BC and into the eastern part of Alberta

The middle part of canada is made up of very flat land known as the prairies This area covers all the way from the mountains in Alberta, to the Manitoba and Ontario border

Ontairo and Quebec are known as Central Canada This area has lots of trees and lakes The Great lakes border Canada and USA

Newfoundland, New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia make up the Atlantic provinces The ancient Appellation mountains come up from USA all the way into Quebec
