Global Warming Project By Amanda Vang and Sydney Billington

What is Global Warming? Global warming is a when the earth’s temperature increases and it can change the earth’s climate permanently. Released greenhouse gases, increased amount of carbon dioxide, burning fossil fuels and human activities such as driving and cutting down trees and plants can cause global warming. They are all caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluocarbons, and other pollutants. Most climate scientist agree that the main cause of the current global warming trend is human expansion, the “green house” warming that results when the atmosphere traps the heat radiating from earth toward space. Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping.

How is Global Warming impacting different regions of the Earth? Global warming is already having big impacts on our community. For instance, the number of wildfires growing in 2014 were 63,312 wildfires which burned over about 3.6 million acres. Sea levels are rising not only in one place but worldwide. Extreme storm events, mostly in Oklahoma, and dangerous heat waves happening more often. The SW winds on the back side of the High continue to pump hot, humid gulf air northeastward resulting in a spell of hot and humid weather for much of the Eastern States, and more severe droughts than ever in California. Global warming can affect the earth in many different ways. Specifically, it can affect plants, animals, the ecosystem and our health. Most plants and animals live in places with specific climates and temperature. Polar bears and penguins are losing their homes and their population sizes are decreasing. Currently, animals that live in the north of America is moving up north even more so they can find a suitable place to live.

How is Global Warming impacting different regions of the Earth?(2) Also, plants are starting to bloom earlier in the spring so they can survive in the winter. Since the temperatures are rising, more droughts occur nowadays like in California. Severe storms, heat pollution and heat waves can threaten humans. With global warming, people with asthma can make their lungs and health even worse. Also, diseases can spread. Specifically, malaria that is spread by misquotes that live in warm & humid areas.
