2 LAB CONCLUSION WRITE UP - QUIZ GRADE This is a sentence stating whether the hypothesis was supported by the data or not. The next few sentences will describe the important points of the data. Things like which liver sample worked the fastest and which had the highest bubble level will appear. This sentence might group the lowest performing liver samples together, using numbers from your table to back that up. Using vocabulary we have learned today, you will use your logic to reason out why the most effective sample worked best and why the others underperformed. Explain how outside factors can affect enzyme performance. Explain why the best working sample was not affected. Then list a reason why an outside audience might want to know about these things.

3 A N EXAMPLE The hypothesis that the vinegar liver sample would function best at breaking down hydrogen peroxide was not supported by the data gathered. The samples that performed best were the fresh liver sample, reaching a height of 12 cm of released 0 2 as quickly as 10 seconds, and the frozen liver sample, reaching the max height of 15 cm but taking 30 seconds to do so. The vinegar sample and the cooked sample produced no significant amount of oxygen. The enzyme at work, Catalase, requires a very specific temperature and pH level to function effectively. The extreme temperature of cooking the liver denatured the enzyme and the vinegar solution was to acidic to allow the enzyme to do its work. The liver fresh and frozen liver samples still had their enzymes intact, with the fresh sample working the fastest and the frozen sample working just as effectively but slower thanks to the low temperature. Enzyme functions are required for life, which is why things like heat stroke and increased blood acidity can be extremely deadly.
