The Southeast region of the USA By: Sai Pavan Yerra November 5 th, 2010

Location The southeast region is west of the Atlantic ocean. It’s north of the gulf of Mexico. The region is also near to the Bahamas. It is located in the southeast part of the USA.

State Tennessee's capital is Nashville, it touches the Mississippi river. Florida’s capital is Tallahassee, hurricanes happen there. Georgia's capital is Atlanta, it touches the Atlantic ocean. North Carolina’s capital is Raleigh, the Appalachian Mountains go through it. Mississippi’s capital is Jackson, it is named after the Mississippi river. South Carolina’s capital is Columbia, it is south of North Carolina. Alabama’s capital is Montgomery, it touches Florida.

Population Florida has eighteen million people. Jobs like mining and manufacturing are in this region. Most people live in Florida, because the climate is very nice.

Human/Environment Interactions There’s a lot of agriculture, because this region is a warm region. This region manufactures cars. This region has oil wells.

Landform The Appalachian mountains start in the Southeast region. The highest point of the Appalachian mountains are 7 thousand, 5 hundred feet tall. The lowest point in the Appalachian mountains are 1,250 feet. The middle point in the Appalachian mountains are 1 thousand ft tall. The Okeechobee is one of the lakes in the southeast region.
