10 Aim: What are the first steps to making this class a success? 1.What are some ways you learn best? 2.What are some ways of learning that don't work well for you? Why do you think that is? 3.Do you prefer to work independently? In small groups? Large groups? 4.What are some things you'd really like me to help you learn or get better at? 5.What else should I know about you as a person and a student that could help me teach you better? 6.What is something about yourself that I do not know but you'd be willing to share with me to help me know you better? I like to work on my own first and then figure stuff out with other people. I like to pick my own groups, though, and don't like when it seems that other people are randomly assigned to work with me.

11 And in closing…  Thank you in advance for making this a pleasant and, hopefully, enriching relationship—on both sides of the teacher’s desk. I respect each of you and your individuality and look forward to not only teaching you but also learning from you, so please, do your best to reach beyond your grasp and maintain a collegiate atmosphere and mature classroom without all the “baby stuff”. You have all begun this term with a 100%, not a 0%, so push yourself and focus because, as corny as it sounds, you will never know what you are capable of if you never try. You reap what you sow.  What questions do you have about this class?
