Vibration -a back and forth motion. How sound is produced- Sound Waves –a vibration that spreads away from a vibrating object.

The guitar’s strings make a pitch. The thicker the strings the lower the sound. The skinnier the string the higher the sound. The thicker string vibrates longer because it has no room to move around.

Compression - The part of a sound wave where the molecules are crowded together. Rarefaction - The part of a sound wave where the molecules are spread apart.

Solids -A form of matter that has a definite shape and takes up a definite amount of space. Liquids –a form of matter that takes up a definite amount of space but has no definite shape. Gases -a form of matter that does not take up a definite amount of space and has no definite shape.
