Parts of a Good Plan: 1.Goals need to be clear and specific 2.Necessary actions in order to achieve the goals 3.Difficulties/obstacles 4.Who or what can help me? 5.Dates or time limits to achieve the objective Building an Education Action Plan

Example of Good Goals Student Goal: I am going to pass my mathematics class Raise my GPA from 2.8 to 3.2 Family Goal: Go to family teacher conferences Help my child find a tutor Help my child save for college Schedule weekend times to look for scholarships together Building an Education Action Plan

Next Steps… What are the benefits of being involved with support groups or parent groups like this ? Are you interested in forming a support group amongst yourselves? Are students interested in forming club? A 4-H Club, a Juntos Club, etc.

What should we do to form this support group? Who wants or can help be a leader of this group? We suggest at least one or two parents, students, community leaders, and/or school adult volunteers Schedule a follow up meeting to complete a plan of action for your group/club at your next meeting Next Steps…
