Fact: Nearly 1 in 3 women experience at least one physical assault during adulthood. Domestic Violence is a pattern of coercive behavior intended to exert control and domination over the victim. Abusive incidents usually escalate in frequency and severity and can result in serious physical injury, disablement, or death

Advocacy Originally launched as a community based committee in 1992 as the Domestic Harmony Committee of Islamic Center of Long Island. We provide a wide range of services including support groups, counseling, legal consultations, interpretation services and referrals for financial assistance. DHF serves as a voice in the community raising awareness about domestic violence and cultural nuances specific to the South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Muslim communities.
