Liaison Tip True or False: All the information you have on a person is contained in his person details page? Let’s see……..
2
When you have identified a suspect, say in a Burglary case, and you want to find out everything you can about that person so you can first find him then conduct a surveillance on him to catch him in the act, You will probably start at his person details page.
3
We’ll say that in a burglary investigation, David Claridge has been identified as the burglary suspect. You enter his name and get to his person details page On his person details page, you can see an assortment of related objects, names, descriptions, scars, marks, tattoos etc You can see his identifiers, and his addresses, including the most recent address
4
But when you get near the bottom, you can see that there are no vehicles in the person details page associated with him. So that’s it, right? No vehicles? WRONG!
5
COPLINK contains layers of associations. In order to access them, it takes a couple of seconds. Using the add button, add Mr. Claridge to the basic search pane, then find associations (in the same basic search side) The results are all of the entities associated with Mr. Claridge Look at the icons on the left
6
Scroll down and look what is there that you didn’t see on his person details page – Vehicles (and guns, and more phones)
7
Use the expand all function to clarify the connection….. Click once and get what the association is.. Click twice and get the case number. It’s a hyperlink and you can go right to it if you like
8
Collapse the associations and click on the Visualizer tab
9
Mr. Claridge has been busy….
