Strategic Planning Think about areas of strength and course sequences you would enjoy. Do NOT select a major based on who you think might be teaching the courses – things change frequently including teacher programs. Discuss options with your parents/guardians, teachers, and older students. Submit by the deadlines indicated. List the majors in preference order.
4
Login to Moodle (your username is the first letter of your first name, your last name, and the last 4 digits of your OSIS number) Scroll down until you see the Sophomore Major Selection and click on that. The Selection Process
6
Click on the Major Selection 2015-2016 “course” (you may be asked to register for the course - there is no password). The Selection Process
7
Click on the Major Selection Questionnaire, read the instructions, and complete the questionnaire. The Selection Process
8
All students will be initially considered for their first choice major. The candidates are sorted by “Power Index” for each major. A specific number of seats is determined for each major and those who do not make the cut are placed into their second choice. The Selection Process
9
The candidate list is sorted again and the highest Power Index students remain in the major. Some students who were placed in the major the first round may be bumped for a higher performing (higher Power Index) student. The process repeats until all students are placed. The Selection Process
10
This model allows students to truly list the majors in preference order without worrying about the number of seats available. College Prep can be used as a tool to make sure students are not placed in a major they truly do not want. The Selection Process
11
College Prep Admissions No seat cap – open enrollment Student who list CP as a first choice will automatically get in. If you do not place into a higher preference major, when your preference reaches CP, you will be accepted. Lower ranking choices will not be considered.
