Welcome Jodie Educational Leader Tonight's Agenda Overview of the steps that will be needed to be taken to review and prepare the new policies. Handout ( Philosophy and outdoor environment policy ) Quality Improvement plan what it is ? Why? Our Philosophy and the Outdoor Environment policy Suggestions for change Why ? What this might look like?

Step required for change 1 Review current policy 2 Research and source up to date information 3 Ask stake holders for input 4 Collect information feedback form stake holders 5 Draft copy, issue to key stake holder 6 Collect information feedback from stake holders 7 Issue amened policy At Serendipity “ Our pedagogical decision and practices are constructed through rich discussions and collaboration with children families and the wider community ”

Important things to conceder when choosing to reviewing Policies Why Dose it meet National Law Dose it meet Regulations outlined in 2011 Dose it meet National quality Framework and Standards Dose it me ( ACECQA ) Licencing requirements Dose it reflect the stake holder views and understanding Dose it reflect the community

Step3 Who are stake holders ?? Inform stake holders of review process and engage them in the process. Ask for their input “We value family as a child first and most influential teacher” Step 4 Collect information back form stake holders Step 5 Gather all the information and begin to draft new policy. Step 6 Issue review copy for further input form stakeholders. Step 7 Print and distribute new policy.

Identified issues Suggestions on change “we encourage children to make decisions about and have input into all aspects of their learning” Suggestions remove “Strict guidelines will be enforced” ( goal section) “remind children to have shoes on at all times” “control use of water for water play” Why they need removing No longer represents our philosophy Stakeholder view of the language used Belonging, Being and Becoming National quality framework and standards

Suggestions for replacing Educators will use standards and regulations to guide children. Educators will offer opportunities for children to chose to explore without shoes. Educators will engage in water play experiences and use this time to scaffold child’s understanding about the importance of water. Where to from now ……….. Drawing on feed back from tonight a draft will be drawn up. Then distributed to stake holders for final review.
