Purpose of Social Performance Indicators Why is it important to report to MIX Market? Because measuring, monitoring, and reporting on social performance … … promotes a focus on achieving social as well as financial goals … demonstrates transparency to donors, investors, and other external stakeholders. … clarifies current areas of strengths and weaknesses (social, operational and strategic). … allows an MFI to track its performance over time and analyze trends. MFIs are increasingly required to be responsible toward the clients and community they operate in and transparent about their achievements.

Process for Data Reporting to MIX Note: MFIs that are unable to submit their information over the internet will still be able to submit their data by mailing it in to MIX. MIX is collecting social performance data through a combined SP/FP data collection tool and an online platform. Combined SP/FP tool: collects data that is time-bound (e.g., number women borrowers, employment created, enterprises financed, etc.). MIX’s online platform also collects social performance data that does not necessarily change every year (e.g., mission statement, governance, consumer protection, etc.). MFIs fill this out once and then do not need to submit it out again unless their policies change. Poverty questionnaire: MFIs who report to track poverty data will receive a separate online poverty data questionnaire to fill out with poverty data of their clients
