Develop a Positive Belief In each learning situation, you have a predetermined attitude or belief in your ability Confidence can make learning easier Negative attitude encourages you to give up. Positive attitude gives you persistence. Coping attitude is neither positive nor negative.

Replacing Failure with Success If you find you didn’t do as well on a test as you had hoped, determine an appropriate statement for each attitude: Positive: What a great opportunity to learn from my mistakes! Negative: Coping: How can I do better next time? I’m a failure. The test was too hard.

Engage Yourself Get mentally or physically involved in the learning situation. Active Participation: 1. Increases concentration 2. Improves listening 3. Seems to make time go quicker 4. Positively effects overall learning
