Objectives Create a bidirectional prototype that can replicate an earthquake in its two components Create a prototype that can multi task in its different configurations Support research on resilience and emergency management with particular reference to earthquakes, accidents and terrorist attacks POLITECNICO DI TORINO – DISEG G.P. CIMELLARO, M. CAPOZZO, F. NOCERA, A. RIZZI

Structure of the control POLITECNICO DI TORINO – DISEG G.P. CIMELLARO, M. CAPOZZO, F. NOCERA, A. RIZZI 1.The accelerograms input the values of acceleration as a function of time with a signal frequency in two directions. 2.Due to electrical engines control which is performed by signals of position, the values of acceleration are integreted two times in order to obtain the equivalent position values. 3.This values are passed to a National Instruments analogic\digital converter. 4.Converted values are a voltage numbers proportional to a displacement. 5.Electrical engines read tis values and move to a corresponding displacement. It’s possible to check the real value of acceleration using accelerometers

Future development POLITECNICO DI TORINO – DISEG G.P. CIMELLARO, M. CAPOZZO, F. NOCERA, A. RIZZI It’s our desire to improve our prototype in order to give as an input the earthquake triaxial shaking movement. Using more than four engines it will be possible! Thank you
