2 National Skills Academies – a reminder of their function Launched in 2006 Employer-led centres of training excellence. Operating in all key sectors of the economy, from process industry to creative & cultural to retail to nuclear to construction. Business leaders have taken control of the design and delivery of learning in their industry. Accreditation of training providers to supply world-class programmes. In the current economic climate, National Skills Academies are enabling industry to develop people and industry ready for the upturn.

6 1. Employer Engagement Management Board with 12 senior industrialists – including Ineos, GSK, SABIC, LINPAC, Contract Chemicals, Pentagon. Regional Skills Boards with 60 senior industrialists. Business Partnerships with many small and medium sized companies. Corporate Partnerships with large global companies. Individual Memberships aimed at attracting 600,000 employees. 6

8 2. Provider Network The building of a training provider network with specialised training for the UK Process Industry. The Academy has established a strong track record of accreditation of providers which involves detailed inspection and grading of facilities, quality training standards and staff. 32 training providers accredited by the Academy. 42 more training providers are in the ‘accreditation pipeline’ with Expressions of Interest under review. Regular training provider events and workshops are held to share best practice. 8

The Skills Passport provides employers and employees with a user-friendly, online record of their accredited and non accredited training and qualifications, creating a full skills profile of the learner.
