4. What does it HAVE to have? All short stories must have characters and characterization Characters are directed by motivation –The reason(s) that explain why they act as they do

5. What is characterization Characterization is the way a writer reveals a character’s –Personality –Qualities 2 types –Indirect – describes the character –Direct – reveals through speech and actions Its the reader’s job to figure out why they act that way.
