St. Augustine May 12 th – May 13 th

General Information Room Assignments have been made. Bus Departs: 6:45 am May 12 th from Somerset Pines. Your child must be here no later than 6:30 am. We will meet in front of the cafeteria. Arrive at Somerset Pines, cafeteria side, at 8:45pm on Friday. Hotel Information: Courtyard by Marriott (904) 826-4068 2075 State Rd 16. St. Augustine, FL 32084

Chaperones You will be assigned a group of students that you will be responsible for the entire trip –On the bus –At the locations –In the hotel Students do not leave the hotel rooms for breakfast until the chaperones come to get them, if not staying in the rooms –At the end of the night we check to make sure everyone is showered and has called home –Take all cellphones with you when you leave the room and make sure students have your hotel room number and know how to use the hotel phone to call you As chaperones you are representing the school and are required to follow the same rules as the staff –This includes the exclusion of anything you must be 18 or 21 to legally do –Making sure all purchases for both you and your group are appropriate for school

Dress Code No Heelies or Flip Flops. Comfortable walking shoes and sneakers are recommended. St. Augustine shirts are required for everyone for both days. Please bring a jacket or zip up sweatshirt. Bring a poncho. All students must look and be clean before we begin the day’s journey.

Snacks NO GUM!!!! Snacks are allowed on the bus and in the hotel rooms except for drinking can with pop tops. (They can tip over and spill on the bus.) Please bring drinks with twist off caps. Snacks should be kept in Ziploc bags for freshness and to prevent bugs. Please bring extra money for extra snacks and drinks….it will be a long day. No Food or drinks may be brought onto the bus from the rest stop

Behavior Students may not change seats on the bus, even if there is an empty seat next to them. Excellent behavior and respect for chaperones and fellow students is expected. Referrals for poor conduct can be written. Students may be “benched” for unsatisfactory behavior. This means that they will get time out from free time activities. Students must conduct themselves in a quiet and respectful manner as there are other guests in addition to Somerset Students in/at the hotel. Students are also responsible to maintain and clean up their hotel rooms and seat on the bus.

Electronics Students may bring their electronics (game boys, IPODS, Nintendo DS, Cameras, DVD players, cell phones, etc.) on the trip. However, Somerset, the teachers, and the chaperones are not responsible if these items are lost or stolen. Please make sure names are on all items brought on the trip. There is DVD player on the bus – we will be watching PG animated movies on the way up and back. Cell phone use is restricted to the bus and to the hotel room only. Please do not call your child during the day. Their cell phone will be confiscated if taken out at any other time.

Money All meals are paid for except for breakfast on the ride up. We depart at 6:45am and your child will not be fed until 12:30pm. Please provide a snack or money for your child to purchase a snack at a rest stop. We will be visiting gift shops at Castillo De San Marco and the Spanish Quarter, as well as, Ripley’s. Souvenir money is optional. You may want to discuss the differences between special Souvenirs and “junk.” Children are responsible for their own money. We do not encourage lending or borrowing money.
