1 EAS Literacy and Numeracy Tracker March 2015

2 The National Literacy and Numeracy Framework (LNF) became a statutory curriculum requirement in September 2013. Formative assessment using the LNF became a statutory requirement from Sept 2014 for all learners aged 5 to 14. Pupils are required to provide a written report to parents in relation to literacy and numeracy in Sum 2015. There is no change to these requirements following the introduction of the revised Areas of Learning (FP) and PoS (KS2-3). Statutory requirements Oct 2014

3 Schools need to ‘review and develop their current assessment systems to ensure that: ongoing classroom assessment is used effectively to monitor progress, discuss next steps and set appropriate tasks; their assessment, recording and reporting (ARR) policy sets out clearly how learners’ literacy and numeracy skills will be monitored and recorded across the curriculum and through key stages for formative purposes; they can provide clear and informative narrative reports to parents/carers on what their child can do, and areas for development in relation to the LNF’. Statutory requirements

4 Pre-requisites of EAS tracker Simple on-line ‘cloud-based’ tracking tool (Nursery to Year 9) Accessible to all schools in the consortium tracker to support schools in monitoring pupils’ progress in relation to the skills in the national literacy and numeracy framework (LNF). Track progress of each pupil, class and groups Allow analysis at class, group and pupil level Provide comparison with other key En/Ma data Generate end of year reports but allow narrative text Benefit from SIMS integration to minimise set-up issues Enable viewing of exemplar material and uploading of school evidence. Fulfil data protection requirements
