Poznan University of Technology Short innovation project GENERAL INFORMATION 5 – days’ workshop initiated in 2000 organized each year in September, by PhD students under university staff supervision gathers ~ 40 students from Poland (Poznan) and foreign countries (there were participants from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and currently from Hungary) INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL (ISS) OF SOLVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS IN MECHANICS, MATERIAL ENGINEERING AND TRANSPORTATION

Poznan University of Technology Short innovation project MAJOR ASSUMPTION Based on the cooperation between COMPANIESUNIVERSITY + + ► good and best ones ► undergraduate, graduate and doctoral (1 year) ► divided into the groups of 3 or 4 persons ► different branches of industry ► most of them participate each year ► deliver problems, each one is solved by 2 groups of students independently ► an organizer of the project ► staff members - supervisors ► helpful in finding the best solutions STUDENTS INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL

Poznan University of Technology Short innovation project INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS STEP 1: Preparation phase An organizing committee formation – the beginning of the year Preparation of inviting letters for scientific committee and companies Distribution of information to students – meetings, posters, leaflets, web site Sunday afternoon (20 September) – students arrival

Poznan University of Technology Short innovation project INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS STEP 2: The workshop Monday (21 September) Students’ registration A work package distribution: a detailed schedule, technical drawings, companies’ prospects, a description of a problem to solve The opening ceremony – an invited lecture and organizational information Problems’ presentation to groups of students by the companies’ representatives Evening - a social meeting

Poznan University of Technology Short innovation project INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS STEP 2: The workshop Friday Students present the results of their projects - the time of each presentation (ppt) is limited to 20 minutes, including 5 minutes for discussion Projects are judged by a jury – representatives of the university and companies A jury meets after all presentations Afternoon - closing ceremony (party) with rewards and certificates delivery
