Escapism In the Depression, people tried to escape their problems through entertainment People did not want to see anything serious or depressing – their lives were depressing enough! Therefore, the entertainment of the 1930s was bigger, louder, more colorful and more fun than the entertainment of the 20s Also, people became obsessed with the latest fads and spend their last dollars in search of the newest trend
