2 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu The base of developments: www.epalya.huwww.epalya.hu - Base of developments: www.epalya.huwww.epalya.hu - Created by a 22 member consortium in the frame of the EU- supported Phare project. - Definitive role: Csongrad and Bacs-Kiskun Labour Centres, regional training centres, pedagogical institutions, chambers of commerce and industry, the chambers of agriculture. - Maintainance: National Employment and Social Office. - Target groups: - youngsters before choosing a career, - adults before career modification, - parents, - teachers, - experts dealing with career guidance and orientation.

3 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu Main functions and contents - Detailed information on qualifications, occupations: - with short films and printable folders - Detailed information on the Hungarian labour-market: - analysis of the unemployed and job-seeking - analysis of the most sought occupations - published job vacancies - short term labor-market prognosis - Counselling functions: - Questionnaires: interest, skills, values, learning efficiency - Online chat possibility with counsellors - Moderated discussion boards - Additional contents: guidance related news, document and link-directory etc.

4 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu Major improvements in 2008 As part of the preliminary works of SROP 2.2.2 project the following major improvements have been carried out: - integrating the qualifications of the modernised (modular structure) National Qualification Register - films demonstrating qualifications/occupations (with online, youtube-like player) - updated folders describing 374 occupations + special folders describing labour market prognosis for 212 occupations - integrating the detailed description of the bologna-system higher education of Hungary (BA/MA levels) - search system for the short term labour-market prognosis Other preliminary works carried out: - detailed analysis of the existing guidance related portals (including Hungarian and international systems) - detailed analysis of the official (education, labour market related) databases

5 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu Developing the new National Lifelong Guidance Portal - The National Lifelong Guidance Portal (NLGP) is to be developed with the support of the Social Renewal Operative Programme. - First development phase: January 2009-September 2010. - The development is likely to continue with the second two-year phase (September 2010- September 2012). - NLGP is the first new portal of Hungarian Public Employment Service with the projected start in the first quarter of 2010. - NLGP is closely connected with the other parts of SROP 2.2.2. - The new portal is to be developed by using the best practices of the existing international systems (Choices Online).

7 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu Aims To create a sophisticated and up-to-date system that is able to efficiently help all target groups of Lifelong Guidance. To create a system that is able to integrate and (in a user-friendly way) publish the education and labormarket-related data and information that are collected by different (official) organisations in Hungary. To help and multiplicate the work of the counsellor-network that is to be started with 50 counsellors nation-wide. Detailed description of all Hungarian qualifications and occupations (with videos, downloadable documents etc). Detailed descripton of Hungarian training opportunities (secondary schools, higher education, vocational education, other trainings). Labor-market information/statistics. Counselling functions (for example online questionnaires) that can help youngsters and adults to get know their strengths, interersts, possible career-ways etc. Education and labor-market related news, frequenlty asked questions, discussion boards etc. Contents

10 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu Online questionnaires Two types: - Short questionnaires (max. 50 items) - Long (deep) questionnaire (80-100 items) Outputs: - Textual/graphical evaluating - Occupation or occupation field results Different versions for different target groups: - during/after primary school - during/after secondary school - general/adult version A few examples: - Employability scale - Mobility (learning/working) - Work-motivation, value preferences - Favorite (school-)subjects - Work-experience and typical work methods

11 Tibor Kovács – portal development coordinator kovacstibor@lab.hu Development directions for the second phase - Personal guidance portfolio - New-type materials to demonstrate and describe professions (Second Life technology) - Improvement of the functions and contents developed in the first phase - E-learning version of the 11 short training modules that have been developed in SROP 2.2.2 - Developing guidance related mini applications for Facebook and other web2 systems - Fe asibility of mobile contents
