In Texas the Aoudad is primarily found in the western region. During World War 2, soldiers posted in Africa noticed the aoudad as a potential game animal. So after the war ended they shipped some over to ranches in Texas. However the Aoudad couldn’t be contained and they escaped and flourished in the western area of Texas. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=picture+of+aoudad+location+map+in+ texas&FORM=HDRSC2#view=detail&id=05C0B1AA4E1596FD0D1AF64C79725D 0AF24EE6A1&selectedIndex=4 http://www.nsrl.ttu.edu/tmot1/ammolerv.htm

Aoudads tend to inhabit rocky mountain areas as seen in Texas. They are also found in precipitous areas, from near sea level all the way to about 4100 meters. The Aoudad cant live in just any rocky area. They prefer places where they can be in the shade until the end of the day when it is cooler. Ex. Caves or trees to lay under. http://eol.org/pages/328662/details http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=pics+of+west+texas&id=AB92B1A69E8 FF84744FAFA296C649CB786C309E6&FORM=IQFRBA#a

Aoudad are herbivores, their diet consists mainly of grasses and shrubs. Their diet can be dependant on the season. For example, during the winter, grass makes up the majority of their diet while shrubs are their main food the rest of the time. Aoudad primarily feed at dusk, dawn, or during the night as plants gather water on their surfaces (dew) which is the Aoudad’s main source of water. http://eol.org/pages/328662/details http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=pictures+of+aoudad+eating%27&qs=n &form=QBIR&pq=pictures+of+aoudad+eating%27&sc=0-19&sp=-1&sk=

Tend to scale to higher ground when they feel threatened. Will wallow in shallow water for long periods of time if given the opportunity. Prefer to hang around shady areas during mid-day. Usually move around during cooler times of the day. http://www.allaboutexotics.com/exotic-species/aoudad/ http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=aoudad+on+mountain&qs=n&form=Q BIR&pq=aoudad+on+mountain&sc=0-7&sp=-1&sk=#a

Other than man, the Aoudad’s only natural predator is the leopard. Hunters often hunt Aoudad because it is an extremely difficult animal to hunt because of their keen eyesight and because of the sparse cover in their habitat. http://www.critters360.com/index.php/animal-facts-aoudad-16846/ http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=aoudad&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=aouda d&sc=8-4&sp=-1&sk= http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=leopard&qs=n&form=QBIR&pq=leopar d&sc=8-1&sp=-1&sk=

The newborns are capable of traversing rocky hills just (almost immediately) after being born. Aoudads have very strong resistances to parasites and diseases. They get most of the water they require to live from eating certain plants. An Aoudad can jump over six foot objects from an standing still position. When males fight they won’t attack their opponent until both combatants are ready. http://thewebsiteofeverything.com/animals/mammals/Artiodactyla/Bovidae/A mmotragus/Ammotragus-lervia.html http://www.critters360.com/index.php/animal-facts-aoudad-16846
