2 A. What to expect Rules: 1. No Food or drinks in the classroom 2. Arrive to class on time 3. Three late equals one cut 4. Hand in assignments on time 5. Students are expected to clean up all supplies used during class 6. Be respectful of art supplies 7. No calling out in class 8. Be respectful of everyone 9. Stay in your assigned seats until given permission * The room has been remodeled through a grant. Take care of it.

3 A. What to expect Grading Policy: Projects: (65%) Creative solutions will lead to successful projects. In Contemporary Artmaking assignments are given to see what new innovative ideas students can come up with. Having a great solution to solve a visual problem is just as important. Participation: (10%) Participation will be based on answering question, completing projects, being prepared for class and sketchbook work such as the aim and do now. Test and Quizzes: (15%) There will be at minimum of one test per marking period and a final at the end of the year. Quizzes will be given out periodically according to the projects assigned. Homework: (10%): Homework will include but not limited to researching reference images, artist and handouts.

9 C. Goals – 5 Projects The student must have completed 5 of the 6 choices below. ____Environment: Illustrates the student’s understanding of the concept of how the environment influences an artist. Artwork demonstrates this understanding. ____Social Issue: Illustrates the student's understanding of the concept of social issues and how they affect artists and their work. One social issue was researched and utilized to create a work of art that illustrated awareness of the issue. ____Fantasy/Play: Illustrates the student's understanding of fantasy on artists and their work. Artwork illustrates artwork that is primarily related to dreams and subconscious experiences. ____Memory: Illustrates the student's understanding of space through either linear or atmospheric perspective. Student artwork shows the illusion of depth. _____Identity: Illustrates the student's understanding of depicting artwork that represents them. Student created artwork that represented themselves, their interests, and/or their background…through artwork. _____Teacher’s Choice: Teacher directed contests or assignment that uses concepts not described above.
