FITNESS ACTIVITY RATING Strength: High- Rowing is a total body workout, using all of the body’s major muscle groups; arms, legs, back, abdomen, and buttocks. Flexibility: High- Rowing exercises muscles through a wider range of motion compared to other activities thereby promoting flexibility and mobility. Fat Loss: Moderate- Rowing is a great calorie burner and combined with healthy eating, will help shed pounds as it conditions the muscles, and therefore increases your metabolism. Endurance: Moderate- Rowing is a superb aerobic activity and improves your cardiovascular fitness.

PHYSICAL WELL-BEING BENEFITS Rowing is a great exercise because it improves cardiovascular fitness, uses all of the body’s muscle groups, and exercises through a wider range of motion compared to other activities.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED To row, you need a boat and oars. A rowing boat is called a shell. If you cannot access a boat, or the weather is not ideal for rowing outdoors, you can use an indoor rowing machine.

SAFETY CONCERNS If you cannot swim, you should not go rowing in a boat, but perhaps try an indoor rowing machine.

WHERE? There are no significant, large enough to go rowing in, I suppose you could take your shell to a nearby river, lake, or go to the ocean to row. Or, you can row with an indoor rowing machine at the gym, or in the comfort and privacy of your own home.

PERSONALITY TYPE Rower are mostly extroverts, intuitive, thinkers, and judgers. Rowing is a sport for every age. Rowing should be fun for everyone who tries it as it isn’t too difficult, and is very enjoyable.
