2 Example Paragraph #2 Does it have a claim with title, author, a debatable idea, and 2 reasons? Are there two pieces of evidence?  Tagline?  Quotation?  Citation? Is each piece of evidence thoroughly explained?  Meaning/Context of the Quotation?  Connection to the Claim? What needs to be improved?

What is the internal conflict? What are some topics (1-2 words) that describe what this poem is about? Using the above topics, what is a lesson we can learn about people or society (the theme)?

8 Formative #3 (Part 3) Prompt: Based on the poem “It Doesn’t Matter the Color of Your Skin,” what is the theme we can learn, and how do the character’s beliefs and conflicts prove this? Answer in a claim with two reasons. Then, provide two pieces of quoted, cited evidence and explain how the evidence connects back to the claim.
