How To Prevent Identity Theft Do not give out personal information unless you know who you are dealing with -email, phone, Internet Shred all documents Don’t carry a lot of cards with you Don’t put your Social Security # on your checks or credit card receipts. Check your credit report twice a year

Sexual Assaults/Rape The fear of rape is widespread. Most fear stranger rape more than acquaintance rape, even though the latter is much more common. More than 50% of rape victims and attempted rape victims use force against their assailant, and 50% tell the person to STOP! Most victims try to stop a rape by doing one of the following: 1. Using force 2. Verbal 3. Begging 4. Running away

Date Rape Mentality All rape is equally criminal and important to defend against. Physically restraining or attacking behavior is rape aggression, not an acceptable dating practice. “NO” means “NO”, no matter what the circumstances of encounter are.

STATISTICS In a survey of 7000 college students: 1 in 4 women was a victim of rape or attempted rape 84% knew their attacker 57% of rapes happened on dates 1 in 12 males had committed acts that met the legal definition of rape; 84% said that what they had done was definitely not rape Only 27% of the victims thought of themselves as rape victims Only 5% reported the crime to the police Only 5% sought help as a rape-crisis center 30% of the women, whether they identified the crime as rape or not, contemplated suicide 82% of the victims said the experience had permanently changed them 65% of male assailants had been drinking at the time of the assault More than 75% of college students who experience rape/sexual assault are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs 75% of acknowledged date rapists admitted to getting women drunk/high in order to increase chances of sex with them
