2 The Thesis The spaying and neutering of pets should be easier to access because it would provide many health benefits to the animals, decrease the population of undesirable animals, and alter sex hormones to create a relaxed relationship between the owner and the pet.

3 Health Benefits Helps prevent: Breast cancer Testicular cancer Sexually Transmitted Diseases Uterine infections And much more! This provides a possible long and healthy life for the animal!

4 Reduce Population ~2,500-3,000 dogs and cats are born per hour in the U.S. 11-19 million dogs and cats euthanized per year in the U.S.

5 Better Relationship Unaltered pets’ behaviors: Roaming Spraying Aggression Loud crying Without these behaviors, a relaxed environment is created.

13 Teaching A short survey was conducted in the class, asking: 1. Do you have a dog or cat at home? 2. Is your dog or cat spayed or neutered? 3. If you answered no, why not? 4. Do you feel that spay and neuter is beneficial to dogs and cats? Why?

14 Results About half had a dog or cat at home. About 75% of the half that had a dog or cat had their pet spayed or neutered.
