2 DUPC Evolution  2000 - School of Communication faculty team ($230,000 grant from the Sturm Family Foundation)  2002 - Project moved to DU’s Center for Teaching & Learning more academic units more in-house support (people and funds) Faculty Electronic Portfolio Committee  September 2002 – DUPC launched, 12 major releases since then  August 2005 – 7700 faculty, student, staff, & alumni users (portfolios, communities, and/or assessment)

3 DUPC Characteristics Easy to use - showcase accomplishments and ideas – replace web sites Augments learning activities across disciplines Integrates with existing web systems on campus Complies with FERPA and with DU’s privacy & intellectual property guidelines Google-able!

4 DUPC Distinguishing features I.Portfolios for individuals, courses, communities –Available to ALL members of the DU community –One portfolio may serve many audiences –Directly accessible to the audience (Google-able, simple URL) –Searchable internally II.Comprehensive assessment management system –Faculty driven –Rubric library, Rubric builder –Customized by academic unit –Based on authentic student work –Reporting tools

10 DUPC What’s next? –Continue to work with academic units on assessment –Expand course tools at request of faculty –Continue to respond to input from users –Share application with other institutions
