Relationship: A bond or connection you have with other people 1) Family Relationships 2) Friendships 3) Community Relationships Citizenship: The way you conduct yourself as a member of the community

3 Components of Relationships 1.Intimacy -Close or warm friendship -Feeling of being intimate and belonging together Deep Mental connection to another person Build bonds with this person (Time + Effort = Connection)

2.Passion -A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger -Strong sexual desire; lust. Physical attraction to another person (Can be based on more than just looks!)

3.Commitment -A pledge to do something -The state of being bound emotionally or intellectually to another person. Lifelong relationships

Friendship—A significant relationship between two people Attributes: similar values, interests, beliefs, and attitudes on basic issues open and honest communication sharing of joys, disappointments, dreams, and concerns mutual respect, caring, and support concern about each other’s safety and well being

Relationships/Family paragraph -5 sentences What is your family unit? How does your family unit influence your behaviors and goals? How does your relationship with your family unit affect your daily life? Peer Feedback: Exchange paragraphs with a partner and share one positive and one improvement.

Relationship Paragraph (5 sentences) Write about a significant relationship (good or bad) in your life… How does this relationship affect your daily life? Which of the 8 triangles would it fall under and why? How can you build/maintain intimacy in this relationship?

Scores… 1-3: There are few constructive elements in this relationship. You may want to think about your reasons for continuing the relationship, or work toward improving it. 4-6: This relationship has problems that might be resolved by working on honesty and communication. 7-10: There is the basis for a good relationship. Focus on the positive elements and work on improving the destructive ones. 10-14: You're doing well and have what it takes to build a successful and satisfying relationship.
