Highway Trust Fund began in 1956 Linked gas taxes to highway funding Federal Gas Tax (18.4 cents) has not been increased since 1993 Pay as you go fund – Must be enough money in the HTF to make reimbursements Highway Trust Fund (HTF)

HTF began FY14 with $1.6B in cash $9.7B transfer from the General Fund at the beginning of FY14 (MAP-21) Cash balance has dropped $4.3B since the beginning of FY15 As of December 30 (mid-FY15), the balance is $7.0B Highway Trust Fund (HTF) Status (Highway Account)
