Instrument class coordinators Coordinate instrument projects – common needs across instrument class software, labs, sample environment, … – identify and realise synergies common components, scope complementarity, funding opportunities Support and interface with management – provide scientific advice on project decisions – develop strategies for maximising scientific impact Point of contact for communications Represent ESS on ICEBs of their instrument class – ensure liaison with ESS Manage and coordinate STAP meetings 6

Instrument STAP Meetings Choose the STAP level which is appropriate – depends on the meeting Half-way through Phase 1 – provide basis for informed scope-setting meeting – requires fairly high-level overview During Phase 2 – software, sample environment When needed – linked to instrument phases – prioritising use of contingency – preparing for early science 15
