East Lake Middle School Academy of Engineering offers rigorous academic courses based upon the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) - Gateway To Technology (GTT) program. The knowledge students gain and the skills they build from the PLTW-GTT program will create a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), encouraging their success in future academic endeavors. Block Schedule Block Scheduling allows students to have 90 minute block periods. It also allows our student to have 1 period a day which is 45 minutes. This one matches up to HS 5 th period our 3 rd period. Allows us to have 20 minutes at the end of the day for clubs and homeroom. Elective Information Humanities Offerings Band 1,2, & 3 Band 2 & 3 students must have previously been in Band 1 or equivalent Orchestra 1,2, & 3 Orchestra 2 & 3 students must have previously been in Orchestra 1 or equivalent Color Guard Gifted Education – Must be eligible for gifted services to be able to be in this class. Technology – All of these classes students will be able to work towards Microsoft Certification. (8 th Grade class is a HS credit) Digital Art Class

Modified Dress Code Tops: All MS students will wear Grey or White Polo's. These Polo's may either be plain or purchased with our logo. Bottoms: Students are to wear jeans with no holes or Khaki pants. We will also permit uniform length khaki shorts. All pants and shorts are to be worn at the waist. Outerwear: ELMS sweatshirts will be available for purchase through the PTA. Plain grey or white sweatshirts will be permitted.

School Bus – Arterial bus service are available for students that are more 2.0 miles away from our school. TBARTA is a system that hooks parents with other parents for carpooling. See the table in the cafeteria for more information. Transportation

District Application opens on January 7 th -16 th All applications are done online through your parent portal account in Student Reservation System (SRS). It is a red school house in the bottom left. If you don’t have one you can obtain one at any school, with a valid Government Issued Photo ID We also have a table set up where you can obtain this tonight right outside the theater. Acceptance Period – February 4-11 – You must go back online and accept your seat at this time. If you don’t it is like you never applied! How Do You Apply?
