About Mr. Schiff: Oldest of 4 children (2 sisters and a brother) Originally from New Jersey Southern New Jersey- Wildwood Crest Went to college in Maryland (Mount Saint Mary’s University), and then again in New Jersey (Richard Stockton College of New Jersey) for teaching Have lived in Arizona for 5 years Have taught 6 th, 7 th, 2 nd, and 3 rd grades

6 th Grade Team Goals 6 th Grade promises to individualize students’ needs and differentiate instruction to accommodate specific learning styles, while also implementing technology into lessons. Math- based off of last year’s AIMS scores, our goal is to raise their math competency Lang. Arts- further along their already strong reading and writing skills Science/Social Studies- develop stronger understanding of secondary subjects

What you’ll need: Pencils, Pencils, Pencils Notebooks- Subjects all together or separate- At least 1 SEPARATE notebook for journaling NO BACKPACKS!! Folders Something to keep yourself organized (Binder, Trapper Keeper, etc.) And most importantly- An open and creative mind!

Half-Departmentalizing For 6 th grade this year, we will be taking a page out of junior high’s manual and switch classes…sort of. Your child will have the same teacher for Math and Science, a different teacher for Reading and Social Studies, and a possible 3 rd teacher for an hour of Literature Studies
