comparifier a startup by team IT
2
Objectives Primary Objective To create a website where people can easily compare similar items side by side Secondary Objective To direct traffic from our site to a secondary website (i.e. Amazon) with whom we establish a monetization scheme
3
Why do we want to do this? People buy things when they are satisfied with what they are buying, they are satisfied when they know they are getting the best deal, they are getting the best deal when they have compared all options We want to create a site that will allow people to compare items side by side in a user friendly and informative way
4
Competitors Dealtime.com Compare products ranging from electronics to movies to books User friendly and side by side comparison Not very catchy or visually appealing and not marketed well (not many people have heard of it)
5
Competitors Nextag.com They are mostly into comparing prices. Have a side by side compare option but is not the main focus Well categorized and known for product comparison Home page not very attractive and not very easily navigable (too many options)
6
Competitors Yahoo Comparison Yahoo offers a side by side comparison option for different products Very nice layout and informative Not a main focus for yahoo and is not well known among users
7
How can we help? We want to create a website that will be User friendly: we want to make the site very user interactive. we want the user to feel in control of the site and make it possible for them to navigate freely Visually appealing: we want to make our product, the comparifier, visually appealing to attract and retain users Informative: we want to put the information in the users hand as quickly as possible. It is possible to compare products if you spend the time to do it but we want to aggregate that information for the user so they don’t have to do it
8
How are we different from the competition? Our main focus will be comparing products side by side for products that are available on Amazon and direct traffic to their website for purchasing purposes Simplicity: Make our homepage and subsequent pages as simple and user friendly as possible Marketing: Make full use of all options out there to attract users (i.e. viral, facebook/iphone application, etc) User feedback: Rely heavily on user feedback to make our site the best we can
9
How do we bring about this website? Using the latest Rich Internet Application (RIA) technology for front-end in Flex. Adobe’s latest RIA tool that uses the Flash platform Will improve quality of user interface compared to competition Using the most agile technology for back-end in RubyOnRails This compile-free scripting language is made for web applications Faster connections to web services, with less code
10
Future Outlook Potential future application of the comparifier Create a facebook/social network application that will market the comparifier product Create a Desktop Adobe AIR application which will allow the user to access the comparifier without a browser Create an iPhone/mobile application to allow the consumer to comparify on the go
11
Conclusion We want to make a website that will become the cornerstone of any purchases made on Amazon We want attract users so that they come to our site first to compare products and are then directed to Amazon for purchasing We want Amazon to buy us out!!
