2. A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF My name is Anthony Maynard, I am 42 years old. I live in rural southern Ohio. I am married and have been for 13 years. We have 5 children ages 19, 16, 10, 9, and 4. I am currently attending Ashford University to obtain my Masters degree. I graduated in 2011 from Ashford University with a Bachelor of social science with an emphasis in Education. I also have a minor in History.

3. MASTER’S DEGREE I began my journey to my Master’s degree in special education due to my job. I currently work at a school for children with autism and see why a master’s in special education will benefit me in my job. I love working with special education students even though this was not my first ambition when I studied education. I wanted to only teach history but after a few years of working with students in special education, I this my calling.

4. EXPERIENCE I have learned a lot about myself as well as education while pursuing my masters degree. I have learned a lot about education as well as working with my current students. I work in a classroom of all boys who have autism. They have a varying degree and this experience/schooling has taught me a lot.

5. SCHOOLING Head start when I was 3 and 4 years old. Kindergarten, I went to two schools. One a rural school and one a city school. First grade to Fourth Grade, I went to Portsmouth City Schools. This schools was a large city school. Fourth Grade through 12 th, I went to New Boston Schools. This school was a very small school. My graduating class in 1993 had only 24 students who graduated.

6. TALENTS/HOBBIES/INTERESTS I am interested in Soccer and Basketball. My love is coaching basketball in the schools. I currently coach 7 th grade girls basketball at a local school. I played basketball in school, without basketball, I would have likely not attended school. I loved playing and the coach encouraged me to keep up my grades so I was able to participate in the sport.

7. QUOTE “Respect is Earned while nobody is watching” Michael Jordan. This quote is one that I think talks about teachers. Teachers put a lot of time and effort into their job while no one is watching. Teachers have to have the respect of their students and they earn this by the things they do in their job.
