Tell me what the name of the lab equipment is, and what you believe the function of each item is. Pick up copy of Student Goals Sheet (if you didn’t finish it yesterday) and fill it out. GOGGLES Uses: Protect eyes during lab experiments Must be worn if any chemicals or glassware are used

STOP AND THINK Turn to a shoulder partner and discuss Why do we use goggles in the science lab? What could happen if you choose not to use them? We use goggles to protect our eyes. Glass and chemicals can cause permanent damage to our eyes ruining vision for life.

GOGGLES They are one of the simplest ways to protect yourself in the lab. They may not look cool or be fashionable but they can save you a lot of pain and suffering

LAB APRON Uses: Helps protect your skin and clothing from chemicals and other substances used in lab experiments

BEAKER Uses: Storing and mixing liquids May be heated Not used for measurements

GRADUATED CYLINDER Uses: Measuring volume Marked with a milliliter(mL) scale These can be used to get an accurate measurement of liquid.
