How common is depression? 5% population is affected each year 1 in 4 women & 1 in 10 men will have symptoms severe enough to require treatment at some point in their life.

Some myths about depression Depression is not a weakness. Nothing bad has happened, how can I be depressed? Telling someone to “snap out of it” or “pull their socks up” is not helpful. One of the most common conditions GPs see – come and discuss it with us if you are concerned.
