1.2- The Geographer’s Tools Globe: Three-dimensional representation of the earth Maps: Two-dimensional representation of the earth. Tell a neighbor one advantage and one disadvantage of both a map and globe.

Parts of a Map Title- Tells what the map is about Key or Legend- Helps to show what symbols on the map mean Compass Rose- Shows direction Scale- Shows the ratio between the distance on the map and the actual distance on earth

Satellites/ GIS/GPS GOES: satellite that is used in weather models GIS: digital database that used to help solve problems using information from several different sources. Landsat: series of satellites that orbit the earth. Can scan the earth in 6 days GPS: used to find exact position on the earth
