What Are the Signs of Menopause? Women may have different signs or symptoms at menopause. 1 Changes in your period 2 Hot flashes-related to changing estrogen levels 3 Red blotches may appear on your chest, back, and arms 4 Heavy sweating and cold shivering can follow

5 Problems with the vagina and bladder- genital area get drier and thinner&more vaginal or urinary infections 6 Sex-feelings about sex have changed 7 Sleep problems-You might start having trouble getting a good night’s sleep 8 Mood changes-You might find yourself more moody, irritable, or depressed around the time of menopause

What About The Heart and Bones? Osteoporosis -losing estrogen around the time of menopause causes women to begin to lose more bone than is replaced Heart disease- Changes in estrogen levels may be part of the cause

How To Stay Healthy After Menopause? 1 Don’t smoke-it’s never too late to benefit from quitting smoking 2 Eat a healthy diet-low in fat, high in fiber, with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole-grain foods, as well as all the important vitamins and minerals. 3 Do weight-bearing exercise, such as walking, jogging or dancing.

4 Get regular pelvic and breast exams, Pap tests, and mammograms 5 Keep a positive and optimistic mood. Contact your psychologist if necessary.

2 Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is still the most effective treatment available for menopausal symptoms-it is not without risk and should not be used to prevent other diseases According to the new guidelines: (1) Combination hormone therapy containing both estrogen and progestin may have small but significant increased risk of breast cancer, heart attack, stroke, and blood clots.

(2) Estrogen-alone therapy (ET)-increased risks of blood clots and stroke&cancer of the uterus (3) Combined HRT or ET should take the smallest effective dose for the shortest possible time and annually review the decision to take hormones.
