Does the way you act have anything to do with what you believe about yourself? Do you have one self-image or many different ones? Can a person change or improve their self- image?

We tend to act like the person we believe ourselves to be (failure in math-act like a poor math student, bad athlete-perform poorly in sports) Self-image affects how good you feel about yourself

Confident Satisfied Successful Do better in school More popular Less likely to smoke Less likely to drink Less likely to do drugs Less likely to engage in other unhealthy activities

Don’t form a negative image after one or two bad experiences Identify your strengths and weaknesses Work on improving areas that are weak

Pick a realistic goal Goal needs to be manageable (so that it can be broken down into smaller parts) Needs to be measurable Needs to be meaningful Have a positive attitude and don’t be afraid to make mistakes

List at least 3 strengths List at least 3 weaknesses List 3 things that you would like to change and rate the desire to change (high, average, low).
