The children have worked especially hard in the last few weeks, to produce a marvellous show for you all, that it has left very little time for lessons. That said, we have finished our novel Friend or Foe. There will be Christmas homework set next week, linked to this story. The pupils will be asked to write up the events in the form of a news report. Please support your child with this. We also need to say ‘Thank you and goodbye’ to Miss Sheppard, as she leaves us this Friday. We wish her the best of luck. Mrs Figes As well as working towards our fantastic play this week the children have been enjoying maths investigations and problem solving activities. In RE we looked at how Christmas was celebrated in Mexico and in Art we began our Christmas cards. For this the children began combining their maths and art skills to sew geometrical Christmas designs which use straight lines to produce curves. Yes it is possible! We have had a very busy week! Christmas is getting nearer and we are getting busier! We hope you all enjoyed our play, we had lots of fun learning all the songs and dances. Miss Burns leaves us today to go back to university. We have enjoyed all the activities she has done with us and wish her well for the future.

End of Term The term ends at 1pm on Thursday 20 th December. The children are back in school at 8.50 on January 7 th 2013. Your views matter to us If you haven’t done so already, please complete the parental questionnaire that was sent home a fortnight ago. This is a good way of communicating your views to us, so that we can improve the school experience for you and your child. I will be taking your concerns about progress reports, school lunches, the school gates and other issues to our INSET meeting and Governor meetings in January. Parents of pupils eligible for our school residential in 2013-14 (yrs 2- 5) have received a questionnaire asking for their preferences. Please return these as soon as possible. ( only 5 responses in so far!!!) Toy day The last day of the Autumn term is traditionally seen as ‘Toy Day’- pupils are allowed, if they wish, to bring toys and games to play with in school. Can I remind parents that this does not include mobile phones or electronic games. Moreover, the school is not responsible for any breakages or items going missing. Where possible, it would be helpful if items were named. This is not a non-uniform day! Attendance At the time of going to press, a handful of children had managed to gain 100% attendance for the Autumn Term. This is a marvellous achievement. Well done: Milan, Mikey, Laura, Callum, Summer, Brooke, Maddison, Aimee, Ellie M, Ben, Shakira and Nathan. Please remember for 2013, to book all appointments outside school hours and that holidays will not be authorised for pupils with attendance below 95%. Christmas Fair Thank you everyone for your support at our Christmas Fair last week. We raised £398.16 which was fantastic and will be put towards a project which all the children will benefit from. Dinner Money Can all outstanding dinner monies for this term be paid on Monday please.
